Wildfire Evacuation Plan

Blue's Bunny Kingdom is building its sanctuary in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, and the evacuation plan is part of the design: every rabbit off the property within ninety minutes, carriers staged year-round, a dedicated trailer, and an off-site destination arranged before the first rabbit arrives.

The Woolsey Fire burned through this area in 2018. Any sanctuary built here that has not planned for the next one is not a sanctuary.

What the plan covers

Trigger conditions and who makes the call. Carrier staging and loading order. Transport capacity. The pre-arranged off-site location. Foster network surge capacity. Records, medications and vaccination cards. Return conditions.

Standing measures

These are design requirements. They describe the sanctuary as it will be built, not a site that exists today.

Annual brush clearance and defensible space. Metal roof mesh rather than polyethylene, which melts under ember cast. On-site water storage. Carriers staged year-round, never stored flat-packed.

The first drill happens before the first rabbit arrives.
